APM PRESIDENT AND CEO NILDA RUIZ SELECTED AS 2008 RECIPIENT OF
EL SOL LATINO NEWSPAPER CRYSTAL AWARD
Ruiz joins 15 distinguished Latino leaders
Philadelphia, PA—Nilda Ruiz, President and CEO of Asociación
Puertorriqueños en Marcha, was selected to receive El Sol
Latino Newspaper’s Crystal Award for her commitment to the
advancement of Philadelphia’s underserved Latino community.
The award was presented on Saturday, July 19 at the Felton
Supper Club in
Northeast
Philadelphia at a ceremony that featured live entertainment by
Charlie Zaa, Los Diablitos y Los
Gigantes del Vallenato. “It is a great honor to have been
nominated, and an even greater honor to have been selected for
this award along with some of the most inspiring leaders in
our community,” noted Ruiz.
APM is a Latino
based health, human services and community development
organization committed to assisting Philadelphia area families
to achieve their full potential by offering a conglomerate of
programs and services including: education for children,
mental health support, drug and alcohol treatment, health
prevention and promotion and access to affordable housing
options. APM serves more than 9,000 individuals a year as it
works with public-provide funders to help improve the quality
of life for all Philadelphians. |
