MAYOR NUTTER APPOINTS APM COMMUNITY AND
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT
DIRECTOR TO REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY
Philadelphia, PA—On Thursday, June 5, Mayor Michael Nutter
appointed APM Community and Economic Development Director
Jennifer Rodriguez to the Redevelopment Authority, a City
agency that facilitates the development of under-utilized
property and finances the development of affordable housing.
Rodriguez holds a Masters in City Planning from the University
of Pennsylvania and most recently served as a Vice President
with the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation.
Recently hired by APM, Rodriguez is responsible for planning
and implementing community and economic development programs
in eastern North Philadelphia, and is helping to lead the
agency’s planning of a transitoriented development (TOD) at
the Temple University regional rail station, the
implementation of the award-winning Sheridan Street Green
Affordable Housing Project, the completion of Phase 3 of APM’s
Pradera affordable homeownership units, and the construction
of a TruMark Credit Union at 5 th
and Berks, the
first financial institution in that immediate area in more
than 50 years. “The RDA seeks to place underutilized land to
better use, with particular attention to affordable housing. I
am familiar with the challenges our neighborhoods face and
hope that my background in economic development finance and my
new role at APM will contribute to the Board a point of view
that is both practical and broad,” shared Rodriguez.
Rodriguez also serves on the Board of the Greater Philadelphia
Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, and was recently named to the
Philadelphia Business Journal’s prestigious 40 Under 40 List.
