Philadelphia, PA—Yvette Núñez,
Deputy Vice President of External Affairs for Asociación
Puertorriqueños en Marcha, was elected the 2008-09 President
of the Philadelphia Public Relations Association (PPRA), the
nation’s oldest and largest independent public relations
association. Núñez has served in various roles on the Board
since 2003, and is the first person of color to serve in that
capacity. “It’s hard to believe that in 2008 we’re still
celebrating ‘firsts’ for people of color,” commented Tanya
Hall, Executive Director of the Multicultural Affairs
Congress, “but it’s a wonderful moment for Yvette and PPRA.”
Núñez joined APM in January
2008, and oversees the agency’s public relations and community
outreach initiatives. She also serves on the Board of Public
Citizens for Children and Youth (PCCY). She graduated with
honors from Temple University, where she received a degree in
Journalism, and lives in West Mount Airy with her three
children, William, 10, Olivia, 7, and 9-month old Cruz.
