Health Promotion
Our Health Promotions unit has three primary missions:

To take a proactive approach to Latina women’s health care by devoting resources to early breast cancer detection

To help those living with life-altering illnesses, such as HIV/AIDS
To help those in substance abuse recovery to stay on the path to a healthy lifestyle.
Our Programs:
Latina Breast Cancer Screening Program:
Like other minority populations, Latina women, particularly those with language challenges, have neither the education nor information needed to take simple steps to protect their health. By providing free annual exams and mammograms for women at risk, our Breast Cancer screening program promotes comprehensive outreach to increase early detection of breast cancer.

Provides Comprehensive outreach to increase the importance and availability of early breast cancer detection.

Program is designed for uninsured/underinsured Latina women from the age of 40 and women at risk under the age of 40.

Provide free annual brief physical exam, self breast examination assessment referral for free mammogram, and follow up services for abnormal results.

La Casa Project
Through a variety of APM support services, men and women living with HIV can also get help obtaining the health and social resources necessary to live more independent lives.
APM provides escorts to medical appointments, translation services, case management, temporary shelter and housing counseling. APM’s La Casa program even provides housekeeping support once clients obtain permanent housing.
A total of 130 individuals and their families have been served of which 52 clients are active

Ryan White Title I
This program assists HIV clients to access health and social resources in order to obtain the highest level of function. Assistance is offered according to client’s acuity terms of need and plan of individualized goals and actions.
Provides escort to medical and social services appointments, transportation assistance, translation services, and close medical treatment monitoring.
Services are provided until client has improved his/her quality of life and demonstrated to be able to function independently

Proyecto Escalera
APM casts a wide safety net for patients fighting drug and alcohol problems. Proyecto Escalera is a 24-unit, single room facility for homeless individuals who have been drug and alcohol-free for a period of six months. Recognizing the complex and often multi-layered special needs of those with HIV or mental and behavioral health issues, Escalera offers a chance to live in a positive atmosphere where they are accepted and respected.
Our program provides the following:
- Case management to the residents
- 24 hour supervision
- Meals provided by Manna.
- Clients receive support through Alcoholics (AA) and Narcotics (NA) Anonymous group meetings.
