Support Services

APM is immersed in the work of strengthening the community by helping people turn times of joblessness and despair into lives of hope and prosperity.  Abriendo Caminos, NORA, Blueprint and Proyecto Hogareño provide longterm help to the Hispanic homeless population.  These programs provide a stable and supportive environment to master the tools necessary for successful independent living.  Program participants gain confidence and hope through drug and alcohol counseling, life skills training, language skills development and job experience.

These programs provide 24 months of support services to the Hispanic homeless population. APM’s Support Services strive to in rich their lives so that they will have the tools necessary to achieve their goals.

Our Family Support Services Unit, Emergency Food Bank and Young Parents Programs provide social services to more than 1500 residents housed in APM's rental developments. We promote family stability through family needs assessments and home visitations, and by building parenting skills and providing emergency food supplies.  Services frequently link to other agencies to refer residents and families to programs that offer Job Readiness training, credit repair or GED classes. 

Life happens.  When crisis hits, APM’s Emergency Family Shelter helps people in need 24 hours a day. Its bilingual and bicultural center is open around the clock, 7 days a week. APM offers the only homeless shelter that specifically dedicates services to the city’s Latino population.   By keeping homeless families together, they are empowered and better equipped to resume stable, productive lives.  Services can be as short as 30 days or as long as a year. 

These programs provide 24 months of support services to the Hispanic homeless population.

Specific Services:

  • Provided intensive case management, parenting skills, home visitation, family’s needs assessment, and counseling in a home setting.
  • Empower clients build self-esteem, develop independence, family stability and promote resident involvement in the community at large.
  • Encourage children and their parents to participate in the many youth programs administered by APM.
  • Provide emergency food through our food bank Monday and Tuesdays 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
  • Referrals to other APM programs for services
